Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering,
Ahmedabad is a premier
engineering institute in Gujarat State set with the objectives of
imparting higher education, research and training in various fields of engineering & technology. The
institute is affiliated to Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and administrated by
Department of Technical education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar. The institute was established in June 1948
with a generous donation of Rs. 25 lacs and 31.2 Hectres of land by the textile magnate Sheth Shri
Kasturbhai Lalbhai. Hence College was named as Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering. It is situated adjacent to Gujarat University buiding and is located at the
nucleus of various national level institutes such as PRL, ATIRA, ISRO,
IIM etc. The campus is having building for various departments,
offices, hostels, residences of Principal, rector and wardens. The plinth area of college and hostel
buildings admeasures 45,220 sq.m. and 12,556 sq.m. respectively.

Dear students
21 Century is said, a knowledge based world. A knowledgeable person belonging to any corner of the world, irrespective of any caste, creed or religion, poor or rich family mayy achieve highest position or become millionaire. Examples such as Shri Azim Premji & Shri Narayan Murthi of Wipro & Infosys etc. are before us. They are from ordinary families but because of thier, knowledge & innovative ideas & concepts have achieved present highest status. Therefore our deliberations are to light the lamp of knowledge within the individuals. It is also apprehension that in near future, India may be tech innovative hub on the bases of technical & management knowledge based human resources.
This college being leading & poineer technical institute of the state, has to play an important role in this regard. Govt. of India has selected this college as lead institute under TEQIP and world bank grant of Rs. 30 crores is sanctioned for laboratory modernization & development, updation of programmes through teaching & learning resources, digital library. Faculty is taking training on latest world class software & LRs.
At present, institute is running 14 undergraduate programmes out of which Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Chemical, Computer, Environmental, Information Technology, Instrumentation & Control, Plastic Technology, Rubber Technology, Textile Technology are accredited by AICTE - NBA, New Delhi.
Besides above, 12 PG programmes are also running in the Institute which will lead to R&D & consultancy work, helping local industries in their persuits. PG courses like Communication Systems, Transportation, Computer Aided Structure Analysis & Design, Chemical, Water Resourses & Management, CAD/CAM are also accredited by AICTE - NBA, New Delhi.
